Cantine Faralli

History

The Faralli family, after five generations in which they were working in the Poggio Martino Maggiore farm, in the locality of Fasciano, took over the property in the fifties, maintaining the winemaking tradition; this was until 2002, when Andrea and Juri decided to start something bigger, planting new vineyards and making consistent and innovative changes to the winery.

“We grew up watching our grandparents and parents take care of the vineyards, harvest their fruits and produce wine; we have seen that in this area wines of great quality are born, which is why we decided to start bottling our wines until we can also export them abroad: this is how Cantine Faralli was born”.

The company and the territory

The family-run Cantine Faralli winery is located in Fasciano, a small village between the hills of Cortona and Montepulciano, famous for their art, their history and their quality food and wine products. The vineyards are located at an altitude ranging from 250 to 330 meters above sea level, in particularly well-exposed areas (north, north-west).

The company, which is constantly expanding, includes 70 hectares of land, of which 10 are planted with vineyards, 1 with olive groves and the rest with arable land. The entire production of the farm is conducted in full compliance with integrated agriculture and with guided pest management. The harvest, as usual, is manual even if in recent years, it has been integrated with mechanized harvesting. The harvesting of the Merlot vineyards remains strictly manual, with more than one passage through each vineyard and with a green harvest in July, with the aim of improving the quality of the wine. Among the wines produced, Syrah is a star, perfectly adapted through centuries to the Cortona area.
